Painting began on June 13, 2021 in a couple of inconspicuous locations: the storage rooms. Jane Howard could not resist priming and painting a few walls. They look just great! The rest of the interior will soon be painted by professional painters. “Accessible Beige (SW7036)” walls and white ceilings with Daffodil Yellow (SW6901) in the Nursery and the same green walls in the Youth Room. Jane came back on the 14th to touch up the corners of the storage rooms.
On June 15 the painting crew was onsite early to begin spraying a thin texture coating on all of the walls to be painted. It looks like this will allow the old and new parts of each wall to blend together better. This is not priming; that will be a separate step. On June 16, the painting crew was back again for about 1/2 day. This time they were priming the walls. They stayed out of the Sanctuary because the tiling crew was in there. Most of the priming was in the restrooms, Hallway and Narthex.
On June 18 a crew of five painters arrived onsite. They finished priming all the walls outside the Sanctuary. Later, they began the first topcoat. They began in the Youth Room, color unchanged. This was our first chance to see the new colors in the rest of the rooms. What a delightful change!
On June 22 the tile was dry so this was the day to begin the first topcoat of the Sanctuary and our first chance to see how the new color, Accessible Beige, would look. It looks great against the color of the new tile flooring! Two painters worked the entire day to finish the whole Sanctuary. On June 23rd a team of three painters came to finish up painting the restroom walls. They were even able to paint the wooden panel installed on the NW corner of the Sanctuary. This panel is for networking equipment.
It looks like the painting phase is completed! Thanks, guys, it looks great!
